WSOC is hosting Butler Thursday at 6 p.m. CT

The Marquette University women’s soccer team (4-3-0) will decide on their four-day home stand for both programs on Thursday, September 23 at 6 p.m. CT against Butler (7-1-0) in the BIG EAST Lidlifter.
The Golden Eagles are 3-0 in the current home stand and have not allowed a goal in any of the three games. The most recent decision was a 1-0 double win in extra time against the state of North Dakota on September 17th.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to play BIG EAST at Valley Fields,” said head coach Frank Pelaez called. “Butler, who won the division title and advanced to the conference tournament championship game last season, is a tremendous challenge for our team and I look forward to seeing how we respond to that.”
GIBSON RECEIVES A BIG EAST
Marquette University soccer player Kate Gibson has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday morning. Gibson scored the 106NS Minute golden goal for Marquette on Friday, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 win over the state of North Dakota to end the non-conference game. It marked Gibson’s first college gate. She also posted a career-best six shots.
LAY EASTER IN
In 2021, netminder Mikki Easter spending time with classmates Lauren Schill in the web. This season, Easter has become the main option for the head coach Frank Pelaez and owns a 4-2-0 record in six appearances. She has 0.51 goals-against-average (3rdapprox in BIG EAST) and tops the list with 20 saves.
SERIES VS. SERVANT
Marquette is 3-7-1 all-time against the Bulldogs in a series that dates back to 1995. The two programs were tied when they first met and then didn’t meet again until Butler attended the BIG EAST Conference in 2013-14. BU has claimed each of the last five meetings, including a 1-0 double extension decision on March 28, 2021 at the Valley Fields dome.
