WOMEN’S SOCCER: Sara Wendt boots winner as Beavers win another 1-0 game – Bemidji Pioneer
BEMIDJI – For the fifth time this season, one goal was enough for the Bemidji State women’s soccer team.
The Beavers beat Winona State 1-0 at Chet Anderson Stadium on Friday, the fifth time this fall that BSU has won by that margin.
Sara Wendt scored the winner for Bemidji State (6-4-2, 5-1-3 NSIC) on Friday, scoring with a close-range rocket in the 55th minute.
Megan Majewski prepared with a free-kick cross from near the corner flag. It went to Megan Dahl, who shot at goal but had it blocked. But the rebound came back and Wendt sent the winning goal home, which knocked the goalkeeper up from nine meters away.
That was enough for Alyssa Stumbaugh to work, because the BSU goalkeeper was 3: 3 on saves. Chloe Swanson had four saves for the Warriors (5-4-3, 3-3-3 NSIC).
The Beavers close the weekend with Senior Day at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 against Upper Iowa back in the Chet.
