Women’s soccer fight Fredonia to 2-2 draw

FREDONIA, New York— Fredonia thought they had done just enough with a goal from Maddy Payne in the 81St minute, but the Ithaca College women’s soccer team fought until the final whistle and scored the equalizer in the 87th minuteth minute to the 2:2 final score on Saturday afternoon. The Bombers scored both goals in the second half as the final 10 minutes proved to be the most dramatic.

The Bombers were by far the more dangerous team as they held a 31-7 advantage on shot attempts as IC had 14 of those attempts on target. Rosie Bostian and Juliet Cascone combined for 14 shots. Bostian placed three goals when she leveled the game in the 87th minute on a strike inside the 18-yard box.

Fredonia was the first to score when they conquered Ithaca in the 13th centuryth Minute when Talia Defay found the back of the net. The Devils carried the 1:0 lead into the half-time break. The Bombers continued to create offensive chances and made it 1-1 Juliet Cascone scored a goal without assist when the score was 50-10.

Claire reader made four saves in goal, including an outstanding performance at 88-09 in the second half.

Ithaca (3-0-1) remains unbeaten and hosts SUNY Cortland for their home game at Carp Wood Field on Wednesday, September 14. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m
