The Deerfield Recreation Department is sponsoring youth football programs for grades K-6 for the upcoming season.
Registration is from 5pm to 6pm on August 26th and from 5pm to 6pm on September 1st, both at Deerfield Town Hall. Registration forms are available at www.deerfieldma.us. A skills assessment will be held at Memorial Field on September 6th. Grades 3-4 start at 5:30pm and grades 5-6 at 6:30pm
The games take place on Saturday, Kindergarten starts at 10am, grades 1-2 at 10:30am, grades 3-4 at 12pm and grades 5-6 at 2pm. Grades 1-6 travel to Conway, Hatfield, Sunderland and Whately Games.
Registration costs $60. A $10 fee will be charged for all late registrations. Volunteers are needed for coaching at all levels. To register or for more information, call 413-665-1400 extension. 107 or email recdept.@town.deerfield.ma.us.
The Union 38 Girls Field Hockey Squad will be hosting tryouts on August 22-23 from 8-10 a.m. at Frontier. The team is open to students in grades 4-6 from Conway, Deerfield, Sunderland and Whately.

Diane Carme, John Johnson, Jess Lapachinski and Bob Perkins battled it out for the low gross of 63 in a men’s and women’s food drive scramble with the foursome of Ernie Patnode, Doug Finck, Michele Hazlett and Irene Woods Tuesday at the Country Club of Greenfield divided.
William McDonald, Marty Carter, Linda Lively and Anne Corrinet took third place with 64 points.
■ Valerie Esquer scored the low score of 41 in a 3-club-and-putter contest in Monday’s CCG in the Patty Berg flight. Susan O’Connor, Liz Dolby and Ann McHugh tied for second place (44).
Lora Gross won the Nancy Lopez Flight (46) followed by TC Emerson (48). Elaine Mount took the Lorena Ochoa flight (47), Irene McDonald was second (49). In the Joanna Carner Flight, Charlene LaChance finished first (49) and Karen Duclos second (50) and in the Annika Sorenstom Flight Kasey Herbert (54) won and Karen Sanders was second (57).
CW Leach finished Tuesday in the Edge Hill Men’s League A Division with the highest points average (up 5) and a low gross (38) while Will Derrico carded the low net (34).
Jim Small had the highest point average in the B Division (up-6). Phil Sherburne recorded the low gross (45) while Roland Carrantit and Jamie Bishop recorded the low net (34).
Closest to the pin, Mark Eaton won in 3rd place (13-11) and Junior Rivera won in 8th place (22-7).
