Here is the Week 2 list compiled by SBLive Idaho correspondent Brandon Walton (and selected photo by Loren Orr Photography):
1. ROCKY MOUNTAIN (1-0)
Last week: Goodbye.
In this week: Host Mountain View on Friday evening.
Grizzlies have a day off after beating Highland (12-7) earlier in the week. Will risk a 29-game 5A SIC winning streak against the Mavericks on Friday.
2. RIGBY (1-0)
Last week: Sky View (Utah) defeated, 43-6.
In this week: Host Post Falls on Friday evening.
Disassembled two-time defending champion 4A Champion from Utah behind great performance from QB Tiger Adolpho (287 yards, three TDs), defense.
3. EAGLE (1-0)
Last week: Defeated Bishop Kelly, 35-33.
In this week: Travel to Kuna on Friday evening.
Escaped after the Knights missed one final field goal, but the news wasn’t all good as RB Ethan Mikita finished for the season with a knee injury.
4. CAPITAL (1-0)
Last week: Defeated Nampa, 35-21.
In this week: Travel to Owyhee on Friday evening.
The best sign for Eagles was getting a healthy QB Max Clark (knee) (299 yards, three TDs) after missing the team’s run in the postseason.
5. MOUNTAIN VIEW (1-0)
Last week: Defeated Meridian, 14-13.
In this week: Travel to Rocky Mountain on Friday night.
Just in time for the showdown of “Battle of the Mountains” with the Grizzlies, we took care of business. Can Mavericks keep their 5A SIC favorite status ahead of the season?
6. COUER D’ALENE (0-1)
Last week: Lost to Lehi, Utah, 33-7.
In this week: Travel to Sandpoint on Friday evening.
Vikings haven’t cracked 100 yards and didn’t score an offensive touchdown on their 2021 debut. Is It Too Early To Panic? History predicts better days.
7. HIGHLANDS (1-1)
Last week: Defeated Alta, Utah, 26-13.
In this week: Hosted Logan, Utah on Friday night.
After a narrow loss to Rocky Mountain, Rams recover with a win in the Rocky Mountain Rumble. WR Raimon Barela (TD catch in every game) starts.
8. MERIDIAN (0-1)
Last week: Lost to Mountain View, 14-13.
In this week: Host Centennial on Friday night.
Missed a field goal at the last second – and now maybe QB Malakai Martinez missed? The courage of the warriors will be put to the test in early 2021.
9. BISHOP KELLY (0-1)
Last week: Eagles lost, 35-33.
In this week: Host Borah on Friday night.
RB Seth Knothe is the epitome of “workhorse” running back – 29 carries, 313 rushing yards, 56 received yards, five TDs (and eight tackles) in week 1.
10. SKYLINE (0-1)
Last week: Lost at Green Canyon, Utah, 16-15.
In this week: Travel to Thunder Ridge on Friday night.
A fleeting way of dropping a season opener – giving up a blocked punt, losing at the last second on a field goal. Reigning 4A champions will be fine.
