No. 2 Blue Devils open an exhibition campaign in Georgia on Monday

DURHAM – Less than a week after preseason training opened, the second-placed Duke women’s soccer team will take to the streets this week for the first of two exhibition games. The Blue Devils travel to Athens, Georgia for a competition at UGA Soccer Stadium at the Turner Soccer Complex on Monday, August 8 at 6 p.m.

It is the second straight season that the Blue Devils and the Bulldogs have met on the field, with Duke earning a 2-0 win at Durham last year. Duke registered two goals in the second half Delaney Graham and Tess Boadewhile Ruthie Jones and Holly Stam combined for the shutout in goal.

In the regular season in the program’s history, the Blue Devils led the overall series with a 5-2 ledger with the Bulldogs.

Georgia is coming off a season in which the Bulldogs rallied an 11-5-3 record but is entering its first year under the stewardship of new head coach Keidane McAlpine.

Duke will wrap up the exhibition game by hosting 12th-ranked South Carolina on Friday, August 12. The competition starts at 6pm at Koskinen Stadium and entry is free.

head coach Robbie Church and the Blue Devils return with eight starters from a season, including 18 letterwinners from a 2021 roster that recorded 16 wins, made a trip to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals and finished the season ranked No. 5 in the nation. Duke amassed a 16-4-1 ledger last season while posting a 7-2-1 mark in ACC action.
