MCC women’s football lays foundation with signings | News, Sports, Jobs

With the debut of Marshalltown Community College’s women’s soccer program beginning in fall 2022, the Tigers have signed their first five members on the team.

“We are delighted to sign the first five players for the new MCC women’s football programme,” said interim head coach Allie Osmundson. “All of these women have a strong work ethic, a drive to improve and a passion for the game. You will all play a key role this fall in helping us build a strong foundation for this program.”

Gabby Erickson will graduate from West Marshall High School this spring. She has been involved in Leaders Uplifting our Community with Charity (LUCC), Band, Choir, Football, FFA, Jazz Choir, Trojan Singers, Honorary Choir, All-State Auditions and Theater. During high school, she played goalie.

Carlie Herdlicka, who will graduate from South Tama this spring, participated in football and cheering throughout her high school days. She also played clubball in the Marshalltown Fall League. She was active in football all four years. Herdlicka played defensive and midline football.

2019 Marshalltown High School graduate Emma Lizarde is a member of the National Guard and helps coach Marshalltown High School’s girls soccer team. She will play forward for the Tigers.

Anahi Tellez is a 2021 graduate of Marshalltown High School. She is a sophomore at MCC, where she was involved in the Cheer program. Tellez played midfield for MHS and also participated in association football. She also volunteered at the Iowa Veterans Home.

Samantha Trowbridge, a former midfielder and defender, graduated from Marshalltown High School in 2021. She played cheerleading in high school, high school soccer for four years, and association soccer with MASC (Marshalltown Area Soccer Club).
