The Marshalltown Community College women’s soccer team will open its debut season Thursday when it hosts Scott Community College at 3 p.m.
The 18-man squad is led by head coach Allie Osmundson and assistant coach Stacy Galema. The diverse team features a mix of local talent as well as several international players from Colombia, Brazil and the UK.
Osmundson looks forward to seeing her team thrive inside and outside of the classroom.
“Our student-athletes are excited for the opportunity to represent MCC on the field, in the classroom and out in the community,” she said. “We look forward to laying a strong foundation for the program as Season One begins.”
“We are very excited for the inaugural season of the women’s soccer program at MCC. The Marshalltown men’s soccer team has had a strong track record of success over the past decade and the women’s team hopes to repeat that success. The team worked hard during pre-season to improve every day and the team chemistry is very strong as the players push and support each other to do their best.”
