Malik Willis discusses recent viral video of him giving NFL combine gear to homeless women

Malik Willis caused quite a stir at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week. Willis has done a lot on the field to impress NFL officials, but he went viral for his actions off the field.

On Thursday, a video of Willis donating some Combine gear to a homeless woman went viral on Twitter. The video shared by Ryan Lacey has over 3 million views.

Willis was recently asked about the video during an NFL Network appearance.

“I passed her on my way to the Nike suite and hacked it up with them and left with a suitcase and stuff. And I felt bad because I saw her son. It was a pregnant woman and she was homeless,” Willis told NFL Network, per CBS Sports. “And I just said, ‘Shoot, I don’t have any money, but I can give you some shirts.'”

Willis felt the need to help somehow.

“I just felt like I had to do this,” Willis said during his segment. “I mean, I’m at a point right now where I don’t worry about anything anymore except getting better. So if there’s anything I can do to help her, I felt like I had to.”

Willis began his college football career at Auburn and spent two seasons with AU (2017-18). He joined Liberty and sat out the 2019 season. He has started 23 games for Hugh Freeze’s Flames in the last 2 seasons. Last season, Willis set career bests in numerous passing categories, catching 207 of 339 for 2,857 yards and 27 touchdowns. As a runner, Willis’ best season of 2020 was when he rushed for 944 yards and 14 TDs while throwing for 2,250 yards and 20 points.
