We are in the dog days of summer as we await the start of the 2022 college football season. The transfer portal and recruitment craze has kept everyone busy, but there’s nothing quite like it.

As we patiently await fall, we’re stuck dissecting the offseason leaderboard. Recently ESPN (ESPN+ subscription required) released its Future Defensive Power Rankings, which took a closer look at who they think will be the best defense in college football for the next few seasons.

Considering how talented the current roster is and how well Nick Saban and his staff continue to recruit, Alabama came in at #4 on the list.

Pete Golding and the Alabama defense return in EDGE defenseman Will Anderson, arguably the best defender in the country. Also anchoring the Tide defense are veterans Henry To’oTo’o, Jordan Battle, DJ Dale and DeMarcco Hellams.

ranked ahead of Tide on the ESPN list Clemson, Georgiaand Texas A&M.
