DePaul Women’s Soccer announces 2022 schedule

CHICAGO — DePaul head coach of women’s soccer Michele O’Brien announced the 2022 schedule on Tuesday, revealing Blue Demons’ eight-game schedule outside of the conference and BIG EAST’s ten-game schedule. DePaul will open the 2022 campaign by hosting Oakland on Thursday, August 18.

“This schedule is very exciting,” said O’Brien. “The non-conference part of the season will be very challenging and hopefully prepare us for the conference game. This group is motivated and ready for the challenge. We will take it one game at a time and relish the opportunity to play against them in a great competition. We look forward to getting started in a few weeks.”

After a 7-11 season in O’Brien’s first year at the helm of the program, DePaul will welcome five newcomers to the 2022 roster and will welcome a strong cast of contributors beginning in 2021. Last fall, DePaul posted a 4-6 record in conference action and narrowly missed promotion to the BIG EAST tournament. The Blue Demons will attempt to return to the conference tournament for the first time since 2019.

After two exhibition games against Milwaukee (Aug. 7) and Michigan State (Aug. 13), DePaul begins the regular season by hosting Oakland on Thursday, Aug. 18. Last fall, O’Brien earned her first victory as head coach in a 1-0 win over the Golden Grizzlies on the road in Rochester, Michigan.

The Blue Demons face off against the Razorbacks for the first time ever. To round out the route away from home, the Blue Demons travel to Iowa City after being locked out by the Hawkeyes in last season’s opener.

In early September, DePaul will fight two Chicago-area enemies. The Blue Demons host Northwestern on September 1 before heading north a week later on September 8 to face Loyola. DePaul will be looking to avenge two 1-0 losses to neighboring opponents last season.

In a Marquee Matchup on September 11, DePaul Stanford will host at Wish Field. Stanford, a legendary Pac 12 program that won the NCAA national title in both 2017 and 2019, will face DePaul for the first time. In DePaul’s final non-conference matchup, Lindenwood will travel to Wish Field on September 15.

The BIG EAST game begins September 22nd with the Blue Demons hosting Marquette in Chicago. After a season-ending trip to Milwaukee last year, the Blue Demons will seek their first win against the Golden Eagles since 2019.
