Colt McCoy and Kevin Durant are listed as one of the top soccer-basketball duos
Colt McCoy and Kevin Durant are two of the most popular undergraduate-athletes to ever graduate from the University of Texas.
While McCoy had a much longer four-year college career compared to Durant’s only season on Forty Acres, the 2006 season, when the two wore burnt orange at the same time, was an exciting era for the Texan sport.
McCoy still holds numerous school records for Texas and has had a long NFL career as a backup quarterback, while Durant has become one of the best basketball players in the world.
McCoy and Durant have been one of the top five football basketball duos in the NCAA since 2000, according to 247Sports.
“After another Olympic gold medal, the world star’s best basketball player has never shone brighter. Kevin Durant scored 21 of his team-top 29 points in the first half and shot several free throws in the final moments to keep Team USA’s gold medal win against France.
In Texas, Durant was an unguarded assassin who averaged 25.8 points per game in his only season in 2006 as National Player of the Year.
Colt McCoy, one of the most popular players in Texas football history, holds a special place in the hearts of Longhorns fans. One of college football‘s top quarterbacks who never won a Heisman, McCoy was a two-time All-American and Walter Camp first-team winner, saving the best moments of his career for his upperclassmen seasons. During his career in Austin, McCoy completed 112 touchdown passes and 20 points on the ground, making him one of the deadliest threats in college football. Big 12 defenses found no answers to his wizardry offensively. Durant’s college career hardly overlapped with McCoy. – Brad Crawford
