CHICAGO – DePaul’s men’s football won the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award late last week. The Blue Demons have now received recognition for 14 consecutive school years since 2007.

Programs across the country are recognized for excellence in the classroom during the 2020-21 academic year, and 224 male college soccer teams received the organization’s recognition.

The Blue Demons have won the award every year under head coach Mark Plotkin to date, receiving the award 17 times since 2003. The squad recorded a team GPA of 3.46 for the 2020-21 academic year.

DePaul and his student-athletes moved back to face-to-face teaching this school year. The Blue Demons have returned to a largely normal experience on the Lincoln Park campus. As a division, DePaul Athletics has set high academic standards in all areas. A record 189 DePaul athletes were named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team earlier this fall.
