That Central European Football League Semi-final match Saturday 4 June between the home team Calanda Broncos out Chur, Switzerland and of Italy Visit Parma Panther promises to be an excellent matchup between two evenly matched teams.
That Broncosdefend Swiss Master defeated Hungary’s Budapest Wolves two weeks ago in her CEFL Quarterfinals game and defeated them 35-27 in what turned out to be a closer fight than many predicted. parma took control of their quarterfinal against Austria’s Danube Dragon established a 21-3 half-time lead early on and then won 21-10.
That Broncos reached the CEFL semifinals in 2021 but lost to the 35-20 Swabian Hall unicorns who won the title.
Kalanda Quarterback Chase Andries threw over two touchdown passes in the win Budapest Brecht Debosere also had two goals on the running back. Both will be crucial today. The Broncos’ offense has averaged nearly 37 points per game in both games Swiss and CEFL play this year. Also in the backfield are running backs Steffen Haenelt and Erik Rageth, while full-back Melvin Sassi has excellent speed and is always dangerous. Defensively, Max Gray leads a runner-up that can give him problems parma passing game.
To the parma, Quarterback Brook Bolles, who is the fourth-best passer in the Italian top flight with 1,261 yards and 10 touchdowns, needs to find consistency. He‘s had excellent games this season but has struggled at times. Linebacker/running back Dauson Dales is a player to watch out for Broncos front seven. He has developed into a ruthless runner, averaging 7.2 yards per carry.
That parma Defense must get control of the Broncos explosive offensive to have a chance at hand early on Kalanda which would be only their second loss on the home field in eight years.
